There is nothing special about those articles beyond the fact that I thought they would be of interest to readers of this blog.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0306919215001037\">Welfare Impacts of Higher Maize Prices when Allowing for Heterogeneous Price Increases<\/a>, by J\u00f6rgen Levin and Elin Vimefall<\/p>\n<p>Highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We explore the impact of higher maize prices on regions and groups in Kenya.<\/li>\n<li>80% of the population would be negatively affected by higher maize prices.<\/li>\n<li>Rural landless households would lose the most.<\/li>\n<li>We let the proportional change in consumer and producer prices to differ.<\/li>\n<li>We allow for heterogeneity in marketing margins among districts.<\/li>\n<li>We demonstrate that relaxing these assumptions substantially affects the results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a id=\"title_S0306919215000871\" class=\"cLink artTitle S_C_artTitle \" href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0306919215000871\" data-docsubtype=\"fla\">Price Stabilization and Impacts of Trade Liberalization in the Southeast Asian Rice Market<\/a>, by Hoa K. Hoang and Willi Meyers<\/p>\n<p>Highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We model the rice price stabilization policy in Southeast Asia using a dynamic partial equilibrium framework.<\/li>\n<li>We assess the impact of free trade by phasing out implicit tariffs in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.<\/li>\n<li>The study finds that the presence of state-trading enterprises (STEs) creates a remarkable price wedge.<\/li>\n<li>The removal of STEs decreases domestic prices and increases world prices.<\/li>\n<li>The price impact is shared quite evenly among major rice importers (Indonesia and the Philippines) and exporters (Thailand and Vietnam).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a id=\"title_S0306919215001116\" class=\"cLink artTitle S_C_artTitle \" href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0306919215001116\" data-docsubtype=\"fla\">Explaining Grain and Oilseed Price Volatility: The Role of Export Restrictions<\/a>, by James Rude and Henry An<\/p>\n<p>Highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We examine the impact of export restrictions on food price volatility.<\/li>\n<li>We use a two-stage approach to estimate the determinants of price volatility.<\/li>\n<li>We find that export restrictions increased price volatility for wheat and rice but not maize and soybean.<\/li>\n<li>The contribution of export restrictions to price volatility is the same order of magnitude as key macroeconomic variables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a id=\"title_S0306919215001189\" class=\"cLink artTitle S_C_artTitle \" href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0306919215001189\" data-docsubtype=\"fla\">Subsidy or Market Reform?
