(2012), which deals with instruments that the authors deem plausibly exogenous; <a href=\"http:\/\/marcfbellemare.com\/wordpress\/12243\">the other<\/a> went over Nevo and Rosen (2012), which deals with instruments that the authors deem imperfect.<\/p>\n<p>In a new <a href=\"https:\/\/mpra.ub.uni-muenchen.de\/79991\/1\/MPRA_paper_79991.pdf\">working paper<\/a>, Damian Clarke and Benjamin Matta discuss both methods, and they present the Stata commands &#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/ideas.repec.org\/c\/boc\/bocode\/s457832.html\">plausexog<\/a>&#8211; and &#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/ideas.repec.org\/c\/boc\/bocode\/s458363.html\">imperfectiv<\/a>&#8211; they created to implement them.<\/p>\n<p>If you are dealing with an instrumental variable that can sort of, kind of meet the exclusion restriction but might not (in other words, almost any observational IV), I suggest checking out their working paper and, if you use Stata, the add-on commands they wrote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in January, I wrote two posts about dealing with imperfect instruments.
