After going through the list, I decided to install <a title=\"f.lux\" href=\"http:\/\/stereopsis.com\/flux\/\" target=\"_blank\">f.lux<\/a>, which adjusts the color of your computer&#8217;s display depending on the time of day and (supposedly) helps you sleeps better.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, my favorite apps are <a title=\"Read It Later\" href=\"http:\/\/readitlaterlist.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read It Later<\/a>, <a title=\"Freedom\" href=\"http:\/\/macfreedom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Freedom<\/a> (which is well worth the $10 price\u00a0when deadlines are approaching), and <a title=\"Evernote\" href=\"http:\/\/www.evernote.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Evernote<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chronicle of Higher Education&#8216;s ProfHacker blog featured a nice post yesterday about the best applications for academics.
