From Gawker&#8217;s <a title=\"Apple Store Employees Aren\u2019t Allowed to Say \u2018Unfortunately\u2019\" href=\"http:\/\/gawker.com\/5812157\/apple-store-employees-arent-allowed-to-say-unfortunately\" target=\"_blank\">Retail<\/a> blog:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;The\u00a0<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052702304563104576364071955678908.html?mod=wsj_share_twitter\">spoke to<\/a> a bunch of former employees and Apple Geniuses for an opus on Apple Stores. And they painted a picture that is about as cult-y as you would expect:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><p>Former Geniuses say they were told to say &#8220;as it turns out&#8221; rather than &#8220;unfortunately&#8221; to sound less negative when they are unable to solve a tech problem.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Bet that really soothes the guy whose iPhone has\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.slashgear.com\/french-iphone-explodes-mid-call-glass-screen-sent-flying-1452302\/\">exploded<\/a> next to his ear. &#8216;As it turns out, you have a shard of glass embedded in your ear drum.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you thought the Apple Store felt vaguely Orwellian, the limits imposed on what the employees can say are definitely Orwellian.
