I&#8217;ve re-upped them for the curious. &#8212; Marc)<\/p>\n<p>If so, the <em>Kansas City Star<\/em> has put online an old version of its style guide, which Ernest Hemingway said were &#8220;the best rules I ever learned for the business of writing.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><del>Here is a <a title=\"Star Styles and Rules for Writing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/2007\/07\/29\/210322\/istari-style-and-rules-for-writing.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">short<\/a> version of the rules, and<\/del> here is the\u00a0<a title=\"The Star Copy Style\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/entertainment\/books\/article10632713.ece\/BINARY\/The%20Star%20Copy%20Style.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full<\/a> version, in .pdf format. Although some of those rules are antiquated, most of those rules are very good. The first one probably had the biggest impact on Hemingway:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;Use short sentences. Use short first paragraphs. Use vigorous English.
