Becker&#8217;s post is <a title=\"Traditional Bookstores Are Doomed\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becker-posner-blog.com\/2011\/01\/traditional-bookstores-are-doomed-becker.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>; Posner&#8217;s post is <a title=\"Can Bookstores Survive?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becker-posner-blog.com\/2011\/01\/can-bookstores-survive-prospects-and-consequencesposner.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Their posts are quite timely. Last Saturday, I aksed my wife we wanted go to Borders to see what they had after dinner, since our local store was &#8220;<a title=\"Borders: Getting Closer to the Bookseller's Final Chapter\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dailyfinance.com\/story\/company-news\/borders-getting-closer-to-the-booksellers-final-chapter\/19782328\/\" target=\"_blank\">probably not going to be around much longer<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I still managed to come home with Malcolm Gladwell&#8217;s <em><a title=\"What the Dog Saw\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/What-Dog-Saw-Other-Adventures\/dp\/0316076201\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1294613086&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\">What the Dog Saw<\/a><\/em> and Ayn Rand&#8217;s <em><a title=\"The Fountainhead\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Fountainhead-Centennial-Hardcover-Ayn-Rand\/dp\/0452286751\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1294613123&amp;sr=1-1\" target=\"_blank\">The Fountainhead<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gary Becker and Richard Posner have, as always, two excellent posts on the future of brick-and-mortar bookstores.
