{"id":4675,"date":"2011-11-15T05:00:32","date_gmt":"2011-11-15T10:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marcfbellemare.com\/wordpress\/?p=4675"},"modified":"2011-11-13T17:53:59","modified_gmt":"2011-11-13T22:53:59","slug":"some-much-needed-good-news-on-the-food-prices-front","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marcfbellemare.com\/wordpress\/4675","title":{"rendered":"Some Much-Needed Good News on the Food Prices Front"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/marcfbellemare.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/FoodPricesNovember.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4676\" title=\"FoodPricesNovember\" src=\"http:\/\/marcfbellemare.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/FoodPricesNovember.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"228\" height=\"286\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations comes\u00a0<a title=\"World Food Situation - Food Price Index.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/worldfoodsituation\/wfs-home\/foodpricesindex\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">much-needed good news<\/a>\u00a0on the food prices front:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The\u00a0food price index\u00a0averaged 216 points in October 2011, down 4 percent, or as much as 9 points, from September and 22 points, or 9 percent, below its peak of 238 points reached in February 2011. The index has been falling steadily since June and, in October,\u00a0 dropped to an 11-month low, but still some 5 percent above the corresponding period last year. The decline reflects sharp decreases in\u00a0 international prices of all the commodities included in the index.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the food price index encompasses five food categories: cereals, oils and fats, meat, dairy, and sugar.
