Agricultural Economics—Without Apology
These three papers were published last week in the August 2011 issue of the Journal of African Economies and they focus by and large on a possible marriage between structural models and experimental methods. By combining the empirical strength provided by randomization with research questions that go beyond simple impact evaluation, I believe this will represent a very important area for future research, and I am myself involved in a project of this sort.
I am generally not a fan of bullet points, even though they are apparently the one tried, tested, and true method of increasing blog readership. In this case, I am willing to use them because there is simply too many interesting things to read and watch about the current famine in the Horn of Africa. Here goes:
I wanted to blog this when it first came out at the beginning of July, but I did not get a chance to listen to this Center for Global Development (CGD) podcast until this past weekend, when recurrent eye problems forced me to spend time (looking) away from my computer. The current famine in the Horn of Africa makes this still relevant.
