Top 5 Agricultural Economics Journals–2019 Edition

Last updated on June 23, 2019

From the Journal Citations Report, here is the new top 5 of agricultural economics journals:

  1. Food Policy 3.788
  2. Annual Review of Resource Economics 2.978
  3. American Journal of Agricultural Economics 2.532
  4. Journal of Agricultural Economics 2.506
  5. Agricultural Economics 2.423

The number to the right of each journal name is the journal’s impact factor, which has been calculated on the basis of calendar year 2018 citation numbers.

This been a good year for Food Policy, which I co-edit with Mario Mazzocchi: Our impact factor went up, from 3.111 to 3.788. It’s also been a good year for the American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE), which I will be becoming co-editor of with Amy Ando, Terry Hurley, and Tim Richards in 2020, as the journal has seen its impact factor go from 2.457 to 2.532.

Obviously, I am pleased that (i) Food Policy‘s impact factor went up and (ii) it is ranked first in my field. All credit goes to my co-editor Mario Mazzocchi, our associate editors, our reviewers, the Elsevier staff we work with, and the authors who elect to submit high-quality manuscripts to the journal.

Also of note is the fact that, by impact factor, Food Policy ranks 29th across all economics journals.
